Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup fresh orange juice

  • 1/4 cup graprefruit juice (or sub blood orange or tangerine juice)

  • 1 tsp honey or agave syrup

  • 1 whole star anise

  • 2–3 whole allspice berries (or a pinch of ground allspice)

  • 1 cup sparkling water

  • Ice cubes

  • Citrus slices (orange or blood orange) for garnish

Directions

  1. In a small saucepan, combine orange juice, blood orange/tangerine juice, honey, star anise, and allspice. Warm gently over low heat for 3–5 minutes—do not boil. This allows the spices to infuse without overpowering.

  2. Remove the star anise and allspice before serving. Let the mixture cool slightly.

  3. Fill two glasses with ice cubes. Pour the spiced citrus mixture over the ice.

  4. Top with sparkling water and stir gently.

  5. Garnish each glass with a citrus slice and, if desired, a small star anise for visual flair.
